DANCE UP CLOSE/EAST BAY
Dance Up Close/East Bay was founded in 2008 by then Managing Director and current Artistic Director Jill Randall as a curated performance series designed to provide local choreographers with a low-risk professional performance opportunity.
The first 10 years of DUC/EB were a successful launching pad for a number of brilliant and cutting-edge artists who continue to make their name in the Bay Area scene including Fog Beast (Melecio Estrella & Andrew Ward), ka·nei·see | collective (Tanya Chianese), and Rogelio Lopez and Dancers.
The program’s 2018 relaunch recommits to its original intention of supporting and cultivating East Bay dance artists while simultaneously expanding its scope to commissioning new work, hosting touring artists, and building connections with SADC’s Artists-In-Residence program and Quarterly Performance Salons.
