CAMPS

June - August

SADC offers a variety of week-long summer camps for youth students of various ages and experience. With Summer focused on introduction to dance forms and intensive skill work, these camps are designed to inspire, challenge, and invigorate dancers in a warm and safe environment. Join us to strengthen your technique, explore your creative voice, or try something new. Scholarships are also available.

All camps run Monday-Friday for 4-6 hours

SADC offers several weekly classes for ages 3-18 in a short 4-week summer session. Whether you're brand new to dance or an ongoing student, we have a variety of styles and levels to choose from.

HOW TO REGISTER

  1. Create a Union.fit account using your child's first and last name

  2. If registering more than one child, each must have their own separate account (requires separate email)

  3. Find your desired class here by using the "classes" filter

 

Trial Classes

Trial classes become available for booking on Sunday, June 24th and are $25. If you decide to join, your total tuition will be prorated to reflect this fee. Please write to youth@shawl-anderson.org to book your trial.

Fusion Dance Camp #1 - Ages 8-11

Students will explore a world of dance forms this week as teachers guide them through warm-ups, skill work, choreography and other fun activities that will get the kids into their bodies. The mixed forms week is an opportunity for students to experience forms that might be familiar to them like ballet, jazz, and modern while also learning about culture through the lens of folk dance forms from around the world. Students will also take part in an end of the week sharing to showcase all of the amazing things they worked on throughout the week.

Creative Dance Camp #1 - Ages 5-7

Students engage in a fun week of creativity and community through creative movement classes paired with art projects. Campers will explore each day’s magic theme via daily dance, improvisation, choreography, and arts and crafts classes. Students will also take part in an end of the week sharing to showcase all of the amazing things they worked on throughout the week.

Teen Modern Camp - Ages 12-18

June 17-21, 2024 / 9a - 3p / $516

Dancers will be immersed in a rigorous week of training after initial placement on the first day of camp. designed to enhance and support technical proficiency in Modern, whether you are in our Beg/Int or Int/Adv cohort, plan on receiving a full day of learning and fun. Each day will start with an hour and thirty-minute technique class before exploring improvisation and choreographic workshops. Students will also take part in an end of the week sharing to showcase all of the amazing things they worked on throughout the week.

Each day will start with an hour and thirty-minute technique class before exploring turns, petit allegro, and yoga workshops. Students will also take part in an end of the week sharing to showcase all of the amazing things they worked on throughout the week

 

Cultural Dance Camp - Ages 10-18

Students will get to explore dance forms from around the world as a way of celebrating the bay area’s diverse neighborhoods and communities. This is an opportunity for students to experience dance forms that are often not provided at traditional western dance studios. Students will also take part in an end of the week sharing to showcase all of the amazing things they worked on throughout the week

​

Teen Jazz Camp - Ages 12-18

July 29-August 2, 2024 / 9a - 3p / $645

Dancers will be immersed in a rigorous week of training designed to enhance and support their technical proficiency in Jazz. Each day will start with an hour and forty-five minute technique class. Throughout the week students will explore classical, lyrical, and musical theater jazz styles as well as focus on stretch and conditioning. Students will also take part in an end of the week sharing to showcase all of the amazing things they worked on throughout the week.

Hip-Hop Dance Camp - Ages 10-18

August 5-9, 2024 / 9a-3p / $645

Students will learn an array of Hip-Hop’s cultural dance forms including breaking, industry choreography Hip-Hop, Popping, Locking, and will be lightly exposed to other forms. The week also incorporates learning combinations in each class that will culminate in a sharing to showcase all of the amazing things they worked on.

AFTERCARE:

We are now offering aftercare for ages 5-7 M-F from 1-5pm for the following camps :

  • Creative Dance Camp #1 - Ages 5-7 June 10-14, 2024

  • Creative Dance Camp #2 - Ages 5-7 July 8-12, 2024

To reserve your aftercare time, please email Noelle (Noelle@shawl-anderson.org) with your desired days/times. Aftercare is offered at $7.50/30mins and must be paid/reserved at least 48 hours in advance

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Limited need-based scholarships are available for each camp/intensive. For families seeking a scholarship please visit our scholarship page to apply.

 

REGISTRATION POLICIES
  • Full or partial (payment plan) is due prior to the start of camp.

  • Students may cancel enrollment up to two weeks prior to the start of camp less a $200 deposit (6-hour camps), and $100 for 4-hour camps.

  • Refunds or credits will not be offered for cancellation within two weeks of the first day of camp

  • In the case of camp cancellation due to low enrollment, families will be notified 1-week prior to the first day, and will be refunded in full.

  • There are no make-ups offered for missed classes
