A Home for Dance

Dance deserves a permanent home—and you can help build it. Shawl-Anderson Dance Center’s A Home for Dance campaign will transform our new downtown Berkeley space into a vibrant, accessible center where artists create, young people discover their voices, and communities gather through movement. Your gift is more than an investment in a building; it creates belonging, expands access, and helps secure a lasting future for dance in the Bay Area.

General Donations & Scholarships

Our “Where Needed Most” Fund empowers SADC by supporting the community, teachers, and staff. This focuses on addressing the most pressing needs. By investing in our studio and improving working conditions, we’re nurturing a brighter future for our students and fostering a thriving community. Your contributions will create lasting impacts while strengthening our general operations fund.

Youth Scholarships

The Future Movers Fund replenishes the general youth scholarship program for the 2026-2027 school year. The fund invites youth families at all levels of need to apply for scholarship support each semester.

The Victor Anderson Scholarship Fund is awarded in memory of co-founder Victor Anderson. The fund supports intensive dance training for youth who exemplify Victor's values in dance: hard work, curiosity and community. One scholarship of $1,000 is announced each June.

Adult Scholarships

The Stephanie Jacob Adult Scholarship Fund is supported in part through a generous annual gift from Ms. Jacob's family and in part through individual donations. Your contribution will augment this support and allow more adults ages 18 through seniors to follow their desire to train and learn at SADC.
