Highlighting the artistic work and issues on the minds of the queer, trans and gender-nonconforming dance community in the East Bay, QUEERING DANCE aims to present dance through a queer lens, elevating the work and diverse voices of local LGBTQ+ movement artists from all backgrounds.
Applicants will be selected by a panel of artists who presented work at the 2019 Queering Dance Festival.
Artists can apply in one or both categories:
1) Program A: 7 artists presenting a 5-7 minute piece. Artists receive a commissioning stipend of $300.
2) Program B: 3 artists presenting a 20 minute piece. Artists receive a commissioning stipend of $1000.
Application Timeline:

Selections Announced: Monday, April 6th
**New this year, up three spots are available for out-of-town artists (please note, housing and travel stipends are not available).

East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, 339 11th St., Richmond, CA
EBCPA is a beautiful, recently upgraded proscenium theater with 120 seats and a full professional lighting and sound capabilities. It is fully wheelchair-accessible, and 5 blocks from the Richmond BART, and a 20 minute direct BART ride from 19th St. station in Downtown Oakland.
Between February 3rd and February 28th, Artistic Director Jill Randall can review any drafts of applications and offer feedback. (Jill is not on the selection panel.)
Email Jill at jill@shawl-anderson.org and provide a Google Doc with the draft of your responses and video links. She will review the drafts and offer feedback within a week via email or document comments.
